I found an interesting article on edge that investgates the rise of the steam application from a simple CS patcher to the be all and end all of online game purchases.

yeah i know what you mean wolvy, but most games run on steam, and apart from the constant activity, its a pretty handy system

Steam has it's advantages, and despite a few bugs it's a useful system

At the moment due to so many companies jumping on steam to offer their current and older products, it's a good program to be running
As well as a good way to play older games due to non- compatibility with newer systems , it's great to play alot of the older games from ID, microprose etc

I will reccommend the X-com games though, really old strategy games like these remind me of what's be lost in better graphics

If steam continues it could be a major player in the years to come, as it offers a great deal for anyone looking to play games [although the annoyance of downloading everything on quotas is just frustrating]

Yeah i agree about the download limits (allthough thats not a issuse for me directly) but once higher download limits are used by ISPs and tech like fiber is released then it will be the only real way to buy games, i doubt the "media" versions will even be available in a few years to come.
